Version 5.3.3  May, 2002

·         "Encrypt to Self" for sent messages.  If you send an encrypted message, you can now select an automatic Encryp to Self option that will save a copy that is encrypted to you in your sent folders.  This way you can keep a record of the messages that you sent that you can read.

·         Multiple messages can now be dragged between folders

·         A few people have requested the improvement so that when you save a draft message etc, and reopen it and make modifications, that it should be saved over the top of the original message, rather than a copy being saved.  This has now been implemented in this version.

·         Greatly improved moving messages between folders when using drag and drop

·         Minor Improvements

Version 5.2.6  - 1st February, 2002

·         Added HTML support for e-mails with embedded HTML

·         Added multiple windows for reading and composing of e-mail – each e-mail will now be opened in its own window – this makes composing much easier

·         Access destination mail servers directly – without the need to use your ISPs mail server.   To do activate this go to “Tools->Email Options->Send and Receive Options “ and click on Send Messages Direct to Server.   You may also need to fill in the DNS address on your network (only if PI can’t find it) so that the IP addresses of the remote servers can be determined.

Version 5.2.5  - 7th October, 2001

·         Improved the email send options to ease signing and encrypting and signing etc.  See the send drop down options on the PI dialog screen.  You can now select

1.        Encrypt before sending,

2.        Encrypt and Sign Before sending

3.       Just Sign before sending

Version 5.2.4 - 29 August, 2001

·         Minor upgrade

.Version 5.2.3

·         Fixed a minor bug in the licence area.

 Version 5.2.1 - 30 June, 2001

·         Modified menu for Preview Messages on the server so that the option is part of the Tools->Email Retrieve Options.  Also added persistence to this option so that it need not be reset each time PI was loaded.

Version 5.2.0 - 15 June, 2001

·         Fixed decrypt and verify function.   Now verifies and decrypts the messsage!

·         Improved retrieval of signature properties for encrypted messages that have been signed.  The status line now shows if the signature is valid and who signed it the message and whether it was signed at all.

·         Added Detached Signature Create and Verify functions so that documents and files can be signed.

·         Separated the file safe manager from the main page to make navigation easier

·         Erase mails on POP3 server without download feature added - for you Martin:  ): to preview your messages, use the Tools->Email Options->Preview Messages menu item.

·         Fixed the annoying problem that when the user clicked or selected on a tree node or folder the control assumed the user wanted to edit the node.  To edit the node/folder now, select the node/folder and then just click a second time.

·         Added PGP->Analyse Message menu function.

·         When importing a file (File->Import File), you are now given the option of inserting the file into the message, rather that overwriting the message text.

Version 5.1 - 14th March, 2001

·         Hopefully a stable release and thanks to everyone for their patience :-)

Version 5.0.1/2 Beta  11th March, 2001

·         Some users have been having problems with the new database (DAO36.DLL) errors.   This release is meant to fix this.

Version 5.0.0 Beta  11th February, 2001

·         You can now save your files in a PI File Safe using drag and drop paradigm.  Note:  To use this you should set the default key in the PGP options, otherwise you will be prompted for a key each time which could be frustrating!  To set the default key, go to the PGP:Options menu.

·         Estimate the quality of your potential passphrase.

·         List of keys was wrong when displaying a message to be decrypted.  Only the first key was shown.  This was a problem with another library.  Also increased list of keys that can be displayed.

·         Word wrap options under Edit->Options has now been enabled and various line lengths can be selected.

·         When setting the mail server options, the Reply address was overwriting the account email address.  This problem has been fixed.

·         Fixed Clear Sign bug

·         Added Encrypt to Self function that had been missing for quite a while :)

·         Messages stored in the Drafts folder are now opened properly and can be sent.  In the past the drafts messages opened by the send/receive functions were disabled - this was a bug

·         Number of messages/files in a folder are now shown

Version 4.6.9  10/9/2000

·         Minor improvements and fixed a problem that occurred when using a ReplyToNewsGroup address in the Nym reply block.

Version 4.6.8  9/9/2000

·         Fixed a couple of mail2news bugs.

Version 4.6.7  1/9/2000

·         Improved the Nym Change Reply block process as well as the process of choosing remailers when using Nyms.

Version 4.6.6  1/9/2000

·         Repaired the mail2news and Compact Database functions that got broken during the 4.6.4 enhancements.

Version 4.6.5  30/8/2000

·         Minor version release to improve handling of remailer windows when sending messages using the remailers option.

Version 4.6.4  29/8/2000

·         Fixed a minor bug that caused the PGP Option->Attachment Options to not encrypt the attachment using conventional encryption.  Error caused the message to be rejected by SMTP.  This function worked fine when using key encryption to encrypt the attachment.

·         Fixed a stupid mistake....Version 4.6.3 has no provision to Update the Remailer Lists.   In revamping the Send Options, the need to update the remailers was totally overlooked.   Thanks David for your feedback!!!!  So to update remailers or view the current status, go to the View menu.

Version 4.6.3  20/7/2000

·         When decrypting large files, occasionally, PI would launch the application associated with the file, but then delete the file before the application could use the file.    This is fixed now so that temporary files are not now deleted.  As a safeguard,  the user is warned that temporary files exists and what directory it is in.

·         Fixed bug with Nym creation.  Caused when the Nym Server stats dialog box would not always initiate correctly.

·         A third party control was sometimes causing extraneous characters to be inserted into the PGP message.  This sometimes resulted in the Hex equivalent of the character being inserted into the message, eg "==" "=3D". etc

Version 4.6.2 /2 9/7/2000

·         Moved the Remailer List status box under the View menu.   This was done because the options now do not need the Remailer Dialog to pop up now.  The only reason they are needed now is for Remailer maintenance.

Version 4.6.0/1 /2 9/7/2000

·         Improved the mail options.  Email is now sent using a set of options rather than through menu commands.   I think this improves the user friendliness quite a degree.  For example,  options are Standard Email, Send via a remailer,  Send via mixmaster,  Auto Encrypt using a Key, Send using Nym etc.  The envelope icon will be overlayed with a key if the message will undergo the encryption process, either as a result of remailing or private key encrytpion.

·         Minor enhancements were also carried out in the way mailboxes are sorted and labelled.

Version 4.5.20 24/6/2000

·         When you double click on a message now, PI checks to see it is encrypted.  If the message is encrypted you will be prompted for a passphrase.  This should make it a little easier to handle encrypted messages, especially nym messages.

·         Send and Receive button has now been added to the main form tool bar.

·         Users now have the option of viewing their passphrase or having it masked while typing into the passphrase dialog box.

·         After doing a mixmaster update, PI was storing the updated mixmaster.htm file in the mixmaster directory rather than the application directory.  This was causing the mixmaster remailer info to not be updated.   This is fixed in this version.

Version 4.5.19 20/6/2000

·         Improved window handling.

Version 4.5.18 16/6/2000

·         Fixed a few problems users were having.  For example, if you typed in email address of a contact that was on your PGPKeyRing, PI didn't find it.  This was always meant to be but because it was not that obvious users rightly complained.  Hopefully this new version makes PI easier to use.

·         Another problem was reported where PGP addresses were not correctly processed after the user selected the addressee from PGPKeyRIng using the 'To' button.

·         Fixed a problem with selection of nyms.  If you selected Nym->Prepare Nym Message and you had more than one nym in your list, only the top one was selected.

Version 4.5.17 8/6/2000

·         Fixed a problem with counting the entries in large keyrings.

Version 4.5.16 3/6/2000

·         This upgrade improves the feedback for users who use invalid URLs to update remailer stats.  PI was not reporting bad links to the users - consequently users considered this a bug.  PI will now report a bad URL and also if now remailer information was found.

Version 4.5.15 3/6/2000

·         A latent bug, which relied on the file "private.txt" caused a failure of the Remailer List function.   The file "private.txt" allows the user to generate a private remailer list.   The remailers in this file are appended to the standard list.   PI has been modified now to accept a condition where this file does not exist.

Version 4.5.14 3/6/2000

·         Fixed bug that was causing large messages, when used with 2 or 3 remailers in a chain, to fail.  This bug was caused by an internal buffer overflow.

Version 4.5.13 1/6/2000

·         New release.

Version 4.5.12a 30/5/2000

·         Fixed a bug in the address book function.  Under certain conditions the Save option button was not enabled.

Version 4.5.12 28/5/2000

·         Message columns can now be sorted.  Click on the message column to sort by Date, Attachment, Read/Not Read etc

·         Improved the identification process associated with incoming messages.  The icons in the mailboxes can be interpreted as follows:

1.       : Messages that have not been opened and are encrypted.

2.       : Messages that have been opened and are encrypted.

3.       : Messages that are probably in clear text.

4.       Messages that have not been opened are now in Bold Text similar to MS Outlook.

·         Improved the Email Options interface to split the Connection, Retrieve and Mail/List options.  Double clicking on the mail groups now pops up the members of the list.

Version 4.5.11 21/5/2000

·         Added the ability to view the Address Book and edit addresses in the Address Book.  This utility is accessed from the Tools menu, both within the Compose and Main dialog screens.

·         Added Browse button to Step 2 of the Nym creation process.  This will help users to find the PGPKeys.exe files when there is a need to create Nym keys on the fly.

Version 4.5.10 16/5/2000

·         Fixed a problem with ClearSign a message in that PGP->ClearSign did not prompt for a phasephrase!

Version 4.5.9 16/5/2000

·         Improved the shell command - some users were reporting problems with the existing shell command when mixmaster was invoked.

·         Remove Are you sure? prompt when deleting messages from the Deleted Folders.   This allows you to multiple select messages and delete the messages with one keystroke.

·         Improvements to the mail2news interface and process.

·         Modified the PGP Options menu so that only Private Keys are shown as being available for signing messages

·         Fixed a bug which prompted the user to sign a message with another user's public key.  This mainly occurred when Encrypting and Signing messages.  So ClearSign and Encrypt and Sign now work as they are supposed to!

Version 4.5.8 13/5/2000

·         Upgrade some of the nym creation features and fixed some minor bugs.

·         Reworked the 'Set Mixmaster Path' command to improve the setting of the mixmaster working directory.  If the mixmaster working directory is not set properly then PI will return an error "Mixmaster did not produce any valid files in the output directory."  This probably means that mixmaster cannot find the working directory.  If the menu command in PI "Set Mixmaster Path" returns an error it is due to the fact that it is trying to automatically set the path for you.  On some operating systems this fails, especially win 95.   The workaround is to use your browser to go to the directory where Mixmaster is and do the following:

1.       Right Click on the mixmaster.exe file (normally has a DOS icon)

2.       Then select 'properties'

3.       Then go to the program tab and type in the working directory, for example C:\mix.

Version 4.5.7 9/5/2000

·         Improved the PGPKeys locater dialogue box to allow for user to Browse the directories to find the PGPKeys.exe file.  This is much faster than the search command.

·         Added a menu command to invoke the PGPKeys locater dialogue box.

·         Improved the remailer options when creating Nyms and Newsgroup messages.  The user is now prompted to use a remailer if the situation warrants.  In the past some of the dialogue boxes that were popping up during the creation process were probably confusing to novice users.

Version 4.5.6a 7/5/2000

·         Distributes an updated spgp.dll.

Version 4.5.6 6/5/2000

·         Enhanced the NewsPoster function.  The newsposter failed if no attachment was specified.  This has now been fixed, and a browse button to improve the functionality.

Version 4.5.5 2/5/2000

·         Further enhanced the Mail Group function to allow deletion and renaming of the mailgroups.  Select the mailgroup you wish to rename or delete, and right click to select the option.

·         Fixed a bug which caused the wrong URL to be used when updated Type2 remailers.

·         Fixed a bug in the "remove contact" dialog.  Due to the sorting in the selection list the wrong entry was being deleted.  Sorting will be implemented in a later version.  Lack of sorting in the contact list does not greatly affect the utility of the contact selection.

Version 4.5.4 23/4/2000

·         After some time - Mail groups have been completed, and tested.  This has introduced a complicated concept into Private Idaho and I hope it works.  This is a Beta release and may still have a few problems.  To use the groups, go to Email Options menu on the primary form, and the add the group you wish to create.  Use the button at the bottom of the form to add members to the newly created group.  An important concept to understand when using this new feature, is that members can come from either your private address book or your PGP keyring.  They are always kept separate, therefore a Mail Group can only be made up of members from a distinct group and cannot be mixed.  If you do need to send a message to members who are in your Private Address book and on your PGP Keyring, then create two groups and include them in the addressee list.

·         Corrected a minor problem when creating nyms.

·         Things to do - upgrade manual

Version 4.5.3 12/3/2000

·         By request, multiple recipients are now permitted in the To and CC fields when using your Nyms.  There is no practical limit to the number of recipients you can insert here.  Also remember that attachments can also be inserted into these messages.

Version 4.5.2 9/3/2000

·         If the Address field, (To Box) was blank when encrypting or signing from the menu, the dialog which should have provided the user with a list of keys, was blank.  This is fixed now, so that if you want to ClearSign a message, then only your private keys will be shown as being available, otherwise all the public keys are shown.

·         Fixed a problem with not having PGP installed.  Users who did not have PGP may have sometimes experienced GPFs.

Version 4.5.1 5/3/2000

·         Made some slight modifications to the 'set mixmaster path' menu command.   Some users were reporting a problem setting the path properly.

Version 4.5.0 3/3/2000

·         The Database can now be compacted from the menu command, Tools: Compact Database

·         The Database is now secure so that personal information is protected.  With this new version you will be required to login to Private Idaho so don't forget your password.  Note that  because only a link to attachments and messages is stored in the Private Idaho database, then even though the database is secure, because  the attachments and messages are not stored in the database, they will still be as you have elected to save them, ie if you haven't encrypted the attachements or message, then they will be stored on in the 'Private Idaho Mail Directory'  in clear text.  The best way to make sure your data remains private is to keep your information encrypted.

·         If you are upgrading with information in your database, then select the Upgrade Database Option check box on the upgrade dialog box, otherwise your existing database will be replaced.

Version 4.4.11 20/2/2000

·         While upgrading some earlier features I broke the conventional decryption function - fixed here

 Version 4.4.10 19/2/2000

·         Needed to modify some of the new Nym field lengths
